Apple iPhone 11 Pro Hands-on Review

Everyone wants to find out if they should get a new smartphone or keep their old phones. Every OEM strives to offer a few unique features that make their phones stand out from the rest, given the fierce competition on the smartphone market.

Smartphone manufacturers have been focusing their efforts on giant display smartphones in the past few years, since bezel-less displays were introduced. Nevertheless, many buyers don't want phones with huge displays and prefer compact phones that are below 6 inches. iPhone 11 Pro comes with everything buyers need to be interested in a premium, compact flagship phone.

New iPhone 11 Pro features the dynamic OLED display that offers a greater contrast ratio and brighter color. Apple has finally implemented triple cameras for its new iPhone 11 Pro after a lengthy delay. iPhone 11 Pro features the most dynamic and powerful cameras ever installed on an iPhone. It has a dust- and water-resistance capability that can be extended to four meters, which is far more than the majority of premium flagships on the market. It has a metallic appearance thanks to the new texture on its glass back.

The price of the upgrades might not make the purchase worthwhile for many customers. The iPhone XR, Apple's most popular iPhone last year in terms of its sales, was the best-selling iPhone. There are good chances that the iPhone 11 will carry on the Apple legacy, available for $699 in many colours. However, many buyers want the very best no matter what price. Apple offers iPhone 11 Pro Max at $999, and iPhone 11 Pro Max Max at a much higher $1099.

We will today be reviewing the iPhone 11 Pro in depth to find out the true pros and cons. Let's get to the price and release details.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is available with native storage of 256GB for $999. $1149 for the 256GB version , and $1349 for the model with 512GB storage will be required if you need more. For the Uk buyers, the iPhone 11 Pro starts at £1,049 and goes up to £1,399 for the 256GB model. In the trade-in offer, the device will cost you £759.

Design

It seems that Apple doesn't seem to be concerned about Android's new design trends in terms of appearances. Apple's iPhone X introduced a brand new notch design a few years back. With few changes, Apple retained its original design language for the iPhone X. On the front, there is a large and thick notch at its top. On the reverse side of the display, there are a few small changes.

Triple cameras on the back side are the most significant upgrade. Triple cameras are housed in the square box located at the upper left corner. Two sensors are placed vertically, side-by-side. The second row contains an LED flashlight and a third sensor. The iPhone 11 Pro, unlike the iPhone 11 that is cheaper, comes in 4 traditional colours: Silver, Space Gray and Gold.

Aluminium is used to make the chassis. The matte-finished glass covers the rear. It is less slippery thanks to the matte finish and attracts less fingerprints. The iPhone 11 Pro will not leave fingerprint marks on other phones' glass rears.

The iPhone 11 Pro has been certified IP68 for water and dust resistance. Apple claims that the iPhone 11 Pro can be immersed in water as deep as 4 meters for up to 30 minutes. It can withstand water up to 2 metres deeper than the predecessor. iPhone 11 Pro has a slightly wider and thicker body than iPhone XS. This is due to the addition of a third sensor and a larger battery.

Apple says the iPhone 11 Pro's glass rear is the toughest ever. We recommend that you use a case in order to prevent accidental drops. On the left edge are the volume and mute controls, while the power buttons can be found on the right. At the bottom is the Lightning port as well as stereo speakers.

Display

Apple's new Mac Pro was introduced a few months back with an XDR display. Apple has adopted the 5.8 inch Extreme Dynamic Range Super Retina LCD display to be used in the iPhone 11 Pro. It has a resolution of 1125 pixels by 2436 pixels , and a density of 463 pixels to an inch. Apple pays special attention to brightness and contrast to make it stand out from the rest. The maximum brightness of the display is 800 nits in direct sunlight. The phone also supports DolbyVision and HDR10. It is also very battery-friendly, despite its bright display.

Apple claims that the iPhone 11 Pro's battery lasts 15% longer than the iPhone XS. OLED displays are known for their high color accuracy and excellent saturation. Apple has recently released 120Hz adaptive ProMotion on the iPad Pro that allows you to increase the refresh rate. The refresh rate of static content can be reverted to conserve battery juice, but that is not possible with the iPhone 11 Pro.

Many OEMs have introduced smartphones with higher refresh rates in the last year to provide an ultra-smooth user experience. This could become a popular trend within the next year, judging by the way things look. While sticking with 60Hz may be a good choice for this year, Apple will need to improve this aspect in the future iPhones. iPhone 11 Pro's display is a spectacular option due to its wide viewing angle and excellent color accuracy.

Apple's iPhone 6s line introduced 3D Touch in 2015. It was a new UI experience that offers haptic feedback and a unique UI. Apple tried Haptic Touch last year on the iPhone XR. It seems that the era is gone for 3D Touch. Apple introduced Haptic Touch to all three iPhone XR models last year. The UI experience with Haptic Touch feels cleaner and more natural than 3D Touch.

Importantly, 3D Touch wasn't rolled out to the iPads. This is why the UI experience for small screens was not the same as the large screen. Apple pushed Haptic Touch for optimal UI experiences on iPads and iPhones.

Hardware

iPhone 11 Pro

Apple's A13 Bionic chipet is the basis of iPhone 11 Pro. The new chipset, like always, not only offers performance improvements but it also uses significantly less power. Apple claims that the new SoC is 20% faster and 40% more powerful . It also has a 25% increase in graphics performance and dedicated Neural engine cores which have been efficiently upped to 30% in order to handle AI tasks better. It also consumes 15% less power that the predecessor. The TSMC second-gen 7nm process is used to build it.

Apple claimed that the A13 Bionic SoC was the fastest smartphone's chipset at the launch event. The benchmarks suggest that the chipset runs faster than most of the latest smartphones on the market. Not only does the A13 SoC have a Neural Processing Unit, but machine learning is also embedded within the CPU/GPU. The iPhone 11 Pro performed as expected in the Geekbench 5 tests. The device scored 1328 in the single-core test, while 3474 was achieved on the multicore .

This benchmark is just for comparison. The Galaxy Note 10 does not fare well in the single-core test. The Galaxy Note 10 scores 746 points in single-core and 2,640 for multicore tests. The fastest Android flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro, also finished in this race, scoring 744 and 2,802 respectively. The iPhone 11 Pro was 6,163 in graphics performance on the 3DMark Slingshot test. The Note 10 and OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand scored 5,374 and 5,581 respectively.

The AnTuTu benchmark rated last year's iPhone 300K as the best-scoring phone. Apple's new iPhone 11 Pro sets the bar even higher this year. AnTuTu 3DBench gives the device an amazing 452,744 The iPhone 11 Pro has outperformed the Galaxy Note 10 Plus almost by 100,000. Apple still leads the Android flagships by a significant margin.

Cupertino's giant claims it is working hard to improve gaming performance. Despite its being a year old, the iPhone XS remains one of the most powerful phones on the market. iPhone 11 Pro's internal hardware is faster than the iPhone XS and has all the features to be the fastest smartphone for the next year.

Cameras

This is the iPhone 11 Pro's biggest update. It features an ultra-wide sensor camera on the rear. The Pro Max and Pro Max models only have this sensor. Rear-mounted primary snapper is a 26mm 12MP wide angle module with an f/1.8 aperture. Apple introduces 100% Focus Pixels to improve light sensitivity. These Pixels are widely available for Android phones and can be used as phase detection autofocus. It ensures that all Pixels on the camera sensor can be used to focus subject. This 100% Focuspixels improves performance by up to three-fold in low light conditions.

iPhone 11 Pro

Secondary rear snapper is a 52mm 12MP Telephoto Sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. This year, the aperture has been upgraded to f/2.0 from f/2.4. Because the aperture is larger, can capture more low-light situations with 40% less light. The last but not least, you'll get a 13mm 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The combination of these three sensors delivers outstanding camera results under all conditions.

iPhone 11 Pro

Triple rear cameras offer 4x optical Zoom. Users can choose to switch between 1x wide-angle and 2x Telephoto zoom. The sensors can provide digital zoom of up to 10x. It is still a far cry from the 50x zoom offered by Huawei's flagship P30 Pro.

Due to the use of different secondary sensors, Apple released two portrait modes last year on iPhone XR/XR. The new iPhone 11 Pro includes portrait mode with telephoto sensor and wide-angle sensor. The bokeh effect can now be used in any way you like.

It is very efficient and prevents blowouts. This helps to focus on the details and reduce noise. All the sensors can calibrate the exposure and colour simultaneously. This is why, when switching between sensors, the focus, exposure level, details level, and white balance all remain constant.

The difference in the aperture size means that the results in low light conditions are different. Camera interface now features the new SF Camera font, which is a great addition to the camera UI. A quad LED flashlight is included with the triple rear cameras.

Apple has also added new features to daylight photography. Apple is particularly focused on low light capturing. Night Mode automatically kicks in to take brighter shots using 100% Focus Pixels. This device merges multiple images in order to get more detail and minimize blur effects.

The three cameras can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. The front-facing selfie camera is 12MP and f/2.2. You can also record 4K videos. The field of view can be adjusted from 70 to 85 degrees by the snapper. It can also capture slow motion videos at 120 frames per second.

Batteries

Apple did not reveal the exact size of its battery cells, but the company claimed that the iPhone 11 Pro will last 4 hours more than its predecessor. Apple did not introduce reverse wireless charging because they didn't want it to work. Apple users will have to wait for at least another year before they can access the reverse charging function that Samsung and Huawei flagship phone owners use for quite some while.

Apple may have increased battery capacity for this year. However, it is not clear what the actual capacity of the iPhone 11 Pro. Streaming video on the iPhone 11 Pro consumed 10% of its battery. This was based upon our extensive testing.

The device can stream videos continuously for up to 11 hours without running out of battery. The device will last for around 20 percent of the day if it is used heavily, including video streaming, internet browsing, social media and calls. In idle mode, the device uses 1.75% per hour.

iPhone 11 users now have a fast charger right out of the box. An 18W Type C fast charger is included with the iPhone 11 Pro. The device charged O-80% in 1 hour 18 minutes , while the full charge took 2 hours 13 minutes

Comparatively, the majority of Android Premium smartphones take 90 minutes to fully recharge. Apple opted for the Lightning port once more when it came to connectivity.

Conclusion

In terms of hardware, camera and battery power, the iPhone 11 Pro is undoubtedly Apple's best smartphone. The iPhone 11 Pro has the most advanced cameras in the class, which will continue to be among the top for at least the next year. It performs all day tasks very efficiently thanks to its powerhouse underneath. It also outperforms its AI competitors thanks to embedded learning.

We think that the iPhone 11 Pro does not have a compelling feature that will attract customers. The iPhone 11 Pro is still not impressive, especially because it has the same thick notch for three consecutive years. This looks more like an S> upgrade to the iPhone XS last year with a few minor upgrades.

Apple's new battery cells are larger and offer a significant increase in life expectancy. You can get the iPhone 11 for $300 less if you aren't willing to pay $1000. The LCD screen and lack of a Telephoto Sensor will be sacrificed. The Galaxy Note 10 offers a solid alternative in the Android market with powerful hardware and excellent display.
