Hi guys, what’s up and how is your gaming experience going on? We are back with yet another informative post on the best CPU for effective and efficient gaming at its best. Before finding what makes the Ryzen 9 5900 series processors one of the excellent options that you would want to go with, let us explore why you need to pick the best CPU for an effective gaming performance.

Why do you need a better CPU for gaming?

The processors come with several advanced options and features that are set to improve the gaming experience you may have. While some decisions with respect to gaming can be easy to make, a few others may prove to be quite difficult to make.

The world around you may be screaming that it is always essential to pick a GPU for effective gaming. that is exactly what makes it one of the excellent choices for most of the expectations that you may have with respect to gaming - images, scenes, and animations.

But, while the GPU does play an important role in an efficient gaming, it should be equally essential to understand that even the CPUs play a major role in your gaming performance.  A CPU does perform a few tasks during a game that a GPU may not be able to handle. A few of these tasks would include the artificial intelligence (AI) functionality of non-player characters (NPC). The number of cores and their speed should ideally play a huge role in effective your CPU is in managing your games and gaming performance.
Today's range of games such as first-person shooters (FPS), multiplayer games, open sandbox games and similar other games can reap better benefits when used with the latest and powerful CPUs. The multicore threads can indeed play a major role in deciding the best performance of a game. As it is quite important to make a choice for the best graphic cards, it is equally essential to give enough thought to understand the essence of the CPU.

Ryzen 9 5900X & Ryzen 5950X – How do they compare with one another?

The Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X have been the powerful among the new Ryzen 5000 series. The 5900X has been one of the excellent options as the best gaming CPU. The other processor, viz 5950X, is a hybrid between 3950X of the previous generation and the new 5900X with all the latest architecture.
Basic Specifications for the two processors

It should be noticed that the two CPUs are designed for different users in mind. The 5950X is designed – to borrow the words of AMD itself is that the CPU is designed to work as the best of both worlds, viz “workstation” and “gaming”. The 5900X is marketed for one of the excellent options for high-end gaming.
The basic specifications offered by the two processors would be

Overclocking on 5900X and 5950X

Overclocking is a feature on a CPU where you would run it at a speed or frequency higher than the one at which it is designed consistently at. The CPU and GPU can be overclocked so that you will be able to perform an advanced task or run a high end program without issues whatsoever. While overclocking is quite safe, it can cause other issues such as overheating and crashes.

Tests conducted by different testing services revealed that there were a few great results with an efficient memory overclocking with the Ryzen 5900X. It has been reported that a value of a 2000 MHz fabric and DDR4-4000 at a 1:1:1 fclk/uclk/mclk ratio could be reached. The 5950X was not in tune with the 5900X.

Power Draw / Thermal / Overclock Speed

Next, in turn, it may be worthwhile to check out the best performance of the two processors. AMD has decided to have the stick with the AM4 socket on those two processors, and this can perhaps constrain the maximum power consumption of around 142 Watts.

The 5900 series processors are designed to draw slightly more power load when compared to the previous generation processors. However, they have also been observed to be more power efficient when compared to the Ryzen 3000 series counterparts. As a result, you can expect them to provide more performance per watt.
You can even expect a cooler performance with both Ryzen 5900X and 5950X CPUs.

The gaming performance of Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X processors

The gaming performance of the Ryzen 5900 series processors should ideally be one of the major considerations that we would want to focus on when working with the review and comparison between Ryzen 5900X and 5950X.

AnandTech revealed that the low resolution performance of the gaming for Chernobyl has been quite interesting. The low resolution performance is quite effective on the two new Ryzen processors.

However, in the higher resolution, the performance was slightly found to be dropping. Even then, it does appear to be holding to the best options, as can be indicated in the following image –

Ryzen 9 5900X vs 5950X – Cost Comparison

Coming to the cost comparison between the two Ryzen processors, the Ryzen 9 5950X is considered to be a beast in terms of the performance. AMD has been able to provide you access to one of the excellent performances, and the high price of the processor definitely indicates the actual strength of the new processor.

If you are simply interested in gaming, the price difference of $250 between 5900X and 5950X may not appear to be a great idea. However, in case you are checking out the best options for the gaming plus workstation requirements, you would find that it may be a  good idea to go with the Ryzen 5950X. Otherwise, it is a good idea to stick with the Ryzen 5900X.

The 16 cores and 32 threads construction and performance offered by the Ryzen 9 5950X should ideally make it one of the excellent choices by almost all counts.

Why should we choose 5900X or 5950X?

We are about to make a choice between the two powerful processors from AMD viz 5950X and 5900X. The strength of the two processors is what would make it an overwhelmingly difficult task to make a choice between the two. While we would want to find the best one among the two, we do not think it would be that easy and simple.

If you are checking out for a powerful gaming rig, it may be a great option to go with the Ryzen 5900X. However, in case you are checking out the best options for a powerful workstation that also provides you a great degree of gaming performance, it would be worthwhile to go with the option of Ryzen 5950X.

In any case, if you are looking forward to enjoy one of the performances that are at par with the best mainstream CPUs and also a great degree of efficiency in terms of gaming as well, it is a great idea to go with the Ryzen 5950X. That would ideally be a futureproof option that you would want to go with. An efficiency in handling both content creation and gaming is what would make the Ryzen 9 5950X our hot favorite.
