Discord announced on April 2 (Japan time) that Discord voice chat will be available on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) console.
In this article, we will show you how to use Discord voice chat on PS5.
Linking PS5 and Discord accounts
Connect your Discord account to the PlayStation Network via the desktop or mobile app version.
From the desktop, browser, or mobile version of Discord, go to User Settings > Connections.
Within the Connection tab, click the PlayStation icon to open a new browser window to authorize connecting your account to the PlayStation Network.
Sign in to your PlayStation Network account from the login page. Once everything is approved, a confirmation message will appear informing you that the PlayStation Network is now connected to Discord.
Conduct voice chat on the PS5 over the Discord application.
This feature is only available in limited regional PS5 betas at this time.
Setting up your PS5 and account for PlayStation Network beta testing
To begin, PS5 beta testers must have received a voucher code sent by Sony via email.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the PS5 beta system software on your console.
From PS5, open Settings and select Users and Accounts.
Select Discord from the list of linked services and follow the instructions to link your Discord account to your PlayStation. If you have previously linked your Discord account, you will need to unlink it once.
5You can now transfer Discord voice chat to your PS5. make sure your Discord is updated to the latest version.
- If you are a PS5 beta tester for this feature, you will need to link your Discord account to your PS5.
- If you have not linked Discord to your PS5, you will not see the option to transfer Discord voice chat to your PS5.
Transferring voice chat from the desktop/browser version of Discord
Join a voice chat from the desktop version of Discord. Then focus on the voice channel view and press the Transfer to Console (phone + game controller-like icon ) in the lower left corner. You can also right click on the voice channel name.
Select Transfer to PlayStation.
A pop-up will appear saying "Transfer voice to PlayStation" and you will be able to select the PS5 console that is linked to the PlayStation Network account connected to your Discord account. Select the console and press "Transfer Audio".
Transferring voice chat from the mobile version of Discord
Make sure your Discord account and PlayStation Network are connected as described above in Setting up your PS5 and account for PlayStation Network beta testing.
Open the Discord app from your mobile device, join the voice channel, and swipe up on the screen to reveal the audio controls. From there, select Join PlayStation.
A pop-up will appear asking you to select the PS5 console linked to the PlayStation Network account connected to your Discord account. Select the main unit and press Transfer audio.
On the PS5, press the PlayStation button on the controller to bring up the Control Center, where the transferred Discord voice chat will appear along with the voice chat card. Selecting a card will display all friends participating in that voice channel. In addition to managing your personal voice settings, you can also view other people's PSN accounts linked to your Discord account and report who is participating in the voice chat.
