It can be overwhelming to choose from so many budget-friendly headphones. Many headphones are made by unknown brands, with poor quality and some with severe caveats. The Paww Wavesound 3, while offering high-end features and a low price, is it able to compete with top noise-canceling headphones on the market?

Solid Construction

For the most part, Paww Wavesound3 feels well-built and solidly constructed. The headphones feel solid and sturdy. There's plenty of metal in both the frame and the earpieces, which should withstand daily wear. My only concern in regards to build quality are the buttons for the controls. They have an out-of-place plasticky feel that is not compatible with the premium design.

These buttons can be used by just touching and are functional. It does require some effort to activate the active noise cancellation switch. If you turn it while wearing headphones, it makes a terrible click. On the opposite ends of each earpiece are the 3.5mm and USB charging outlets.

Wavesound 3 headphones are durable and portable. The Wavesound 3 folds down easily and comes with a durable hardshell case to protect them when you travel. You can carry your included USB, AUX and adapter in the case's removable velcro pouch. Although the headphones weigh 363g, they are still light than comparable wireless headphones.

Comfort: Highly customizable

The Wavesound 3's wide range of adjustment was a pleasant surprise. These headphones fit well on my large head but can also be adjusted to fit smaller heads. They were comfortable and well cushioned.

Paww Wavesound3 feels well-constructed and made to last.

Sound Quality - Great Audio, but weak Noise Cancelling

Wavesound 3's 40mm drivers were excellent at reproducing many types of music. Wavesound 3 was very clear throughout the entire range of highs, mids and bass. It's remarkable well balanced. My usual test song, 2cellos' Thunderstruck cover, was my starting point. With its large range of tones, the Wavesound 3 reproduced this complicated piece very well.

While listening to Hotel California by the Eagles, the Wavesound 3's tone separation and large soundstage were a delight. The large soundstage also helped with classics like Hip to be Square, Huey Lewis, and News. This song was my favorite because of the way the headphones reproduced the vocals.

Bamboozler, a modern-rock song by Goodbye June was my example. I noticed that Wavesound 3 handled the softer parts of this song better than those with more louder sections. When I listened To Weezer's The End of the Game, this was also confirmed. Although it's not overpowering, I preferred the cleaner sounding headphones. With its clear vocals and acoustic instruments, Young for a Day from The Rifles was great.

The Wavesound 3's integrated microphones were very reliable in delivering high quality calls. They were easy to understand and provided clear audio quality.

Paww Wavesound 3

Although the WaveSound 3 actually has active noise cancellation (ANC), it is by no means my favorite active noise canceling. The switch to turn it on/off is so ineffective that I could not hear the settings at first.

The only time I noticed significant noise cancellation was when I had to sit in an area with air conditioning. The air conditioner has very little effect on the sounds of birds callings or voices, but it can dampen low background noises.

Battery Life: Lackluster duration

The claimed battery life of 16 hours was accurate for me. I was able to listen to normal music for two days without interruptions. This is still quite impressive, even by modern standards for wireless headphones. Although it's not bad, you will need to keep them charged quite often.

Range and Capability: Short leash

It is not accurate to claim 800 feet wireless range. The Wavesound 3's wireless range was only 50 feet, with clear sight lines. The Wavesound 3's range was not as good as other Bluetooth headphones. It is also susceptible to being obstructed by walls, which can make it difficult for Bluetooth to reach long distances.

Most sounds are almost unaffected by active noise cancellation.

Features: AI assistant activation

You can search the web, make calls and control your smart phones with ease using Paww Wavesound 3.

Price: Great value

The Paww Wavesound 3 offers a great deal at a low MSRP of $99 These headphones are extremely well-designed and priced at a reasonable price. This is the cheapest noise-canceling headset we tested.

Paww WaveSound 3 vs. Status BT One

The Status BT One, which is similar in price to the Wavesound 3 is an on-ear alternative. Although the BT One can be carried around easily and is extremely comfortable, the BT One doesn't offer the same level of comfort as the WaveSound 3. The BT One's hinges are made of cheap plastic and is not very long-lasting.

Final Verdict

Despite some stumbling blocks, the Paww Wavesound 3 is a great value for money.

The Paww Wavesound 3 is a great choice for its price. It's durable and has excellent sound quality. The Wavesound 3 can be a great budget choice, provided you are able to live with a reduced wireless range and battery life, along with mediocre active noise cancellation.
